But the information security deployed — largely behind the scenes — has been a work in progress for years, starting with a Web-based event management system built over the past three years, using agile development methodologies, and tested at 13 previous International Federation Of Association Football (FIFA) events.

Mahindra Satyam, the soccer tournament’s official IT services provider, is responsible for safeguarding 160,000 users, the distribution of 3 million tickets, and 40 terabytes of data.
